History of Landmeterskop:

The farm was initially part of the much bigger original Papiesvlei (Paapjes Valley) which had belonged to the Van Dyk family for generations.

Farming Operations:

Landmeterskop farm consists of 660 ha of which 200 ha is natural fynbos.
At present the farm grazes 1000 ewes – dormer crossbreeds. Breeding for stock production.
In winter oats, rye grass & clovers are sown as pasture, also wheat.
In summer cultivated pastures have to be irrigated.

Owners:

The Steenkamps, both born and bred in KwazuluNatal, South Africa, moved to the Cape Overberg in January 2011 where Theuns, a businessman, is now living his dream of being a sheep farmer. They crisscrossed the Western Cape for eighteen months before they found the right farm for their purposes – Landmeterskop in the Cape Overberg. It was love at first sight – the natural beauty of the area, the peacefulness, the abundance of water, and the soil which is well-suited for grazing sheep were just some of the attractions!
