We recently spent the weekend at Landmeterskop, just outside of Stanford in the Overberg. It’s a working sheep farm, and each cottage has the most spectacular views of the valley. I loved the small touches in our cottage, it was beautifully decorated plus the beds were all made up with crisp white linen (for some reason, this is high up on my list of ticks when I’m choosing a place to stay). Each morning, we walked up with the kids to meet Tsala – the amazing assistant to owners Theuns and Valerie – who helped us feed the lambs, ducks, geese as well as collect freshly laid eggs for our breakfast. And in the evenings we did it all over again, plus we got to milk the goats and feed the pigs and alpacas! Although we were quite busy – visiting Stanford, walking to the dam to swim (not me!), walking to the other dam to row boats (not me!), driving up the mountain to watch the sunset, taking tractor rides, it was just so relaxing to be out of the routine of home.
